Who TEGO is
TEGO Platform Ltd, BRN C26237531, Telfair, Moka, Mauritius, called TEGO in these terms, is an online insurance broker for Mauritius, starting with motor insurance.
TEGO Platform Ltd is applying for its FSC licence.
These terms take effect once TEGO holds its FSC licence.

The rules for using TEGO's website and your customer account are in the terms of use:
For whom TEGO acts
TEGO acts for you, the customer.
TEGO prices the insurers on its panel on the same answers, so that you can compare them.
The insurers on TEGO's panel:
[To be confirmed: the panel once agreements are signed]
Your choice of insurer
When you asked for your quote, you confirmed:
I understand that under Section 81 of the Insurance Act 2005 I am free to choose my own insurer, and that no bank, dealer or agent can require me to insure with a particular one.
Quotes
Prices shown are indicative until confirmed by the insurer.
Each price is worked out from that insurer's rate table, on the answers you give.
TEGO keeps your quote under a reference and emails you its link. The link and the prices in it last 30 days.
The insurer may confirm the price, change it, or decline to cover you.
From quote to cover
- You choose an insurer from your quote.
- You add the documents your policy needs.
- TEGO checks your identity.
- You pay the premium, as clause 6.1 sets out.
- You complete one proposal form, with your insurer's questions, and confirm its declaration with your typed name.
- TEGO checks your request and sends it to your insurer.
- Your insurer issues your policy, asks for more documents, or declines to cover you.
- Your cover starts on the start date your policy shows, and never before your insurer issues it.
Today the identity check on the website is a simulation: nothing is verified.
Policy documents and receipts
- Cover notes, insurance certificates and policy schedules are your insurer's documents. They appear in your account when your insurer issues them.
- The receipt for your payment is TEGO's own document, issued in its name.
Renewals
- TEGO emails you 30 days and 7 days before your cover ends.
- Nothing renews without you: you choose, then pay the way you did the first time.
- Some insurers' proposal forms ask whether to renew your policy automatically. That answer goes to the insurer.
- [For legal review: how an insurer's automatic renewal works with clause 5.12]
Claims
- You raise a claim from your account. TEGO sends it to your insurer, which decides it.
Your duty
The proposal form's declaration sets out your duty:
- You give true and complete answers, and you withhold nothing that could affect the insurer's decision.
- You tell the insurer if any of your answers change.
The premium and how TEGO is paid
- You pay the premium to TEGO.
- TEGO pays the premium on to your insurer, less TEGO's commission.
- TEGO's commission is a share of the premium, agreed with each insurer.
- A partner whose link or referral brought you to TEGO, such as a car dealer, may earn a commission from TEGO. That commission is never added to your premium.
- [To be confirmed: whether TEGO charges a fee of its own]
- [For legal review: whether premiums are held in a separate client account]
Today the payment on the website is a simulation: no money moves, and TEGO keeps only the card's last four digits, never the card number.
Paying monthly
Paying the premium monthly, through a lender, is not offered yet.
[To be confirmed: paying monthly through a lender]
Complaints
The complaints procedure is for a lawyer to write. Until it is, the process below is a placeholder.
[For legal review: the complaints procedure]
To complain, write to TEGO by email:
- Give the reference of your quote, request, policy or claim, and say what went wrong.
- [To be confirmed: acknowledgement and answer times]
- [For legal review: escalation beyond TEGO]
Cancellations and refunds
What happens to the premium you paid is for a lawyer to set, in each of four cases:
- Your insurer declines to cover you.
- You withdraw your request before your insurer issues your policy.
- Your policy is cancelled before the end of its term.
- Your insurer changes the premium when it issues your policy.
[For legal review: refunds in each case]
